Unhappy Mark of Protection?

Hey,

How do you effectively use this elite? I have a feeling that this elite can be very good, however I just can't think of how I can use it well because of it's skill description.
Has anybody used this elite effectively, and if so, can you please advice as to what you did or used? I want to be able to use this elite.

Thank you in advance.

[skill]Mark of Protection[/skill] = FAIL

if the recharge was...MUCH shorter maybe, but any elite isn't worth the 5 second disabling of your protection spells.

Have someone else in the party bring Glyph of Renewal, then you go Mo/Me and use Arcane Mimicry.

Obvious, right?

It is like that so all your other protection skills aren't disabled.

Mark of Protection is morely a fun skill.
I used it at times with succes, however your skillbar will be morely hybrid then total protection.

think more in line with 2 healing prayer and 1 or 2 devine favor skills to use this skill.

Used this elite skill in a "Dolyak"-build inside Snake-danse to cap Feast of Corruption with a few others and lvl 13 hero's. However forgot the total build i used back then with it :/

That does sound like an idea, but I guess in the general PvE aspect side of things, there are more efficient ways of being a monk, with an alternative elite in one's skill bar. That's what I gather from the responces.
Maybe I was getting high hopes because RoF is one of my favourite protection spells to use, and this is an elite version (that's my take on it anyway). However, like Moriz stated, the recharge is a big downfall, and the disabling of other spells is yet another downfall.
I guess I'll just hope that in the not too distant future ANet could make this more usable. If not, no problem, it's not like monks are disadvantaged without it.

Thank you for your feedback, it's greatly appreciated! ^_^

Shun the non-believers! (Shunnnnn! Shuuuuuunnnnnnnn-nah!)

I'm looking for a way to use this too. This elite can be ridiculously powerful if used properly... you're right, it's got the awesomeness of RoF, but it's like a super version of that.

You know the Mo/A Blessed Escaper build? It uses Gift of Health, and bypasses the disabling problem by making Gift the only Healing Prayers skill on the bar. There should be a way to do the same thing with Mark of Protection.

But you still have 35 seconds when it's just a useless skill slot. If you want to run it as the only Prot skill, where do you wakt points from? Go 12 Healing, 12 Prot rest in Divine? And give up your elite slot for something you'll only cast once, maybe twice per battle?

Maybe a Mo/Me Healing Monk with Arcane Mimicry, and you put the elite on a hero (hey, the wammo tank doesn't need it... >.>). Then you still have your Healing Elite, and with 9 points in Prot, this can still be useful.

Not really viable, though, since many people like running hybrid builds, and this would kill your PS/RoF for 5 seconds.

prot disable isn't the problem, the recharge is
5 sec duration, 10 recharge would be better. You don't need 10 secs anyway
make it 0,25 sec cast and it makes a fairly good anti-spike skill

But problems is that there are no good healing skills to make such build worth it. Besides, healing prayers have Seed, much better than MoP.
